2. Browsing Movies & TV Shows

Switching Between Movies and TV

Use the Movies and TV buttons at the top of the page to switch between movie and TV show content. The active selection is highlighted in orange.

Browse vs Recommendations

Below the logo, you'll find two main viewing modes:

Browse

Explore the full catalog of movies or TV shows. Use filters to narrow down your options by genre, year, rating, and more. Results are displayed in a grid format with posters, titles, and ratings.

Recommendations

Get personalized suggestions based on your preferences. This section shows curated picks that match your taste profile.

The Content Grid

Movies and TV shows are displayed as cards in a grid. Each card shows:

3. Using Filters

The filter bar helps you narrow down content to find exactly what you're looking for.

Available Filters

Genre

Filter by genre such as Action, Comedy, Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi, and more. Select "All Genres" to see everything.

Year

Filter by release year or decade. Options include specific years and ranges like "2020s", "2010s", etc.

Rating

Set minimum and maximum rating thresholds. For example, set minimum to 7 to only see highly-rated content.

Language

Filter by original language including English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and more.

Sort

Sort results by popularity, rating, release date, or title. Click the arrow button to toggle between ascending and descending order.

Tip: Filters work together! Combine genre, year, and rating filters to find exactly what you want - like "Action movies from the 2020s rated 7 or higher."

9. Trakt Integration

FlixPicks integrates with Trakt.tv, a popular service for tracking what you watch.

What is Trakt?

Trakt is a platform that automatically tracks TV shows and movies you watch. It keeps a history of everything you've seen, helps you discover new content, and syncs across many apps and devices.

Connecting Trakt

  1. Sign in to your FlixPicks account
  2. Click the user icon and select "Connect Trakt"
  3. You'll be redirected to Trakt to authorize the connection
  4. Once connected, your watch history syncs automatically

Keyboard Navigation

Press Enter in the search box to submit your search. Use Escape to close modals and dropdowns.

Mobile Friendly

FlixPicks works great on phones and tablets. The interface automatically adjusts to your screen size.

Combine Filters

Use multiple filters together for precise results. Try combining genre + year + minimum rating to find hidden gems.

AI Conversations

The AI remembers context within a conversation. You can follow up with "something similar but funnier" or "what about TV shows instead?"

Streaming Availability

Check the detail page to see which streaming services have the title. Availability is specific to the US market.
